We will post various fun and perhaps surprising items "found on the beach" here. Some belong there, and some don't!

Found! ... on Petoskey State Park Beach.
This hearing aid is a great device when actually warn in the ear. Maybe it is carefully listening to the "singing sand" of the Sea Michigan shoreline beach? Or, perhaps for approaching gulls that would no doubt soon spy it as an attractive item to check out?
I returned it to the stairway entrance at this location that comes out the campground area...I hope it found it's owner. By the way, listen up: the campground and park folks are super here!...go there when you can.

Found! ...at (actually in) St. Joseph's Silver Beach. These two benches are in a great location, approximately 100 yards from the shoreline, and well up the fore dune. Yes, there is a paved sidewalk under there somewhere to. This is an example of the power of water and wind in moving sand.
I have sat on either bench many times, and it provides a great view of the beach, lighthouses, and channel. It also reminds us of the effort it takes by many parks' workers to prepare for the summer season in welcoming guests to the shore of Sea Michigan. No doubt this would take a combination of machine and hand digging to unearth these winter fossils.
...well, that's cool!!!
Found! ...near the Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven. This is also near one of the locations (on the Black River) that the commercial fishing industry thrived for decades.
While the leaf is covering the complete name, no doubt this was made by the East Jordan company, based in East Jordan, MI...a firm that has been in practice since 1883. And appropriately, this fish is pointed out toward Sea Michigan!
...where ever it may be along the shores of Sea Michigan!
Found! ...at Grand Meres State Park.
This was perched toward the top of a dune, overlooking one of the coastal dune ponds. A great place to walk and explore!
I came across this while removing invasive species in concert with the DNR and the many fine volunteers that participate in such efforts.
The view is so good, why not leave the chair for others to use?! ;o)
....and we will be renewed in the coming year.
Found! ...on the Traverse City state park beach. (officially: " Kieth J. Charters Traverse City State Park").
This was in August and someone is optimistic that the waive action is going to allow this to stay through the entire rest of the year. Re-purposing stones and shells is fun!
Optimism rules!!!
Found! ...on South Haven's North Beach.
I guess that 8 inch step up is too risky to take here.
Oh wait a minute, it looks like some one has broken the rules here, leaving tell-tale footsteps in the sand.......
Found! on Petoskey State Park beach was this creative design by a budding artist. It's always attractive to find such designs on beaches, or to make them yourself.
Now for even more fun, what do you interpret the creation to be? (I see this one as up to interpretation). Email us at info@seamichigan.com with what you see here, by Oct 31, and the best idea will win a Sea Michigan hat.
Here a great blue heron is not really relaxing on the shoreline like the rest of us. This magnificent creature is fishing, and is a darn good one too. This location: half way out on Muskegon's Pere Marquette South Break wall... is not a very common siting during mid-day in the summer though. We're all too use to the gulls instead.
Here fishy, fishy.....
Shoes (and other articles of clothing) left by the parked car as one rushes out to the beach/shoreline and water! Hey, those shoes are so unnecessary on a beach. We all trust each other in this Sea Michigan environment! ;o)
(and no, that is not my GMC AT4!)
Water, here we come!!!
There is something about a sunny day in the middle of summer that brings out those great vintage vehicles. And, especially the rag top or topless variety! This Chevy is a beauty, found on Old Mission Harbor on the east arm of Grand Traverse Bay.
Well, it's not everyday that one comes across a find like this to sink your teeth into! I suppose if a seagull came along, it would make it's smile a lot wider.
